The inaugural Essex Hickory Open was staged on the 18th August at Potters Resorts Five Lakes Golf Club, near Colchester.
There was a field of 30 golfers (most of whom were playing with hickory shafted golf clubs for the first time).
There was a scratch event on the par 3 Links Course, followed by a handicap event on the Lakes Championship Course.
We were blessed with perfect weather conditions all day. Undoubtably the "stars of the show" were the guide dogs in attendance.  We were not only enjoying a great day on the golf course, but also raising money for Guide Dogs UK.
There was a very successful raffle draw and a speed auction.  Together they raised just over £1,000.
